Interests

  • General

Singing, Parties, KAOS. I don't really have time for interests outside of school and work right now.

I don't keep a blog on here, because I have one already at www.Livejournal.com/~ankhst
  • Music

I love to sing and listen to Trad, especially Irish. When i'm in Auckland I go to the trad music nights at the Dogs Bollix. They are fantastic. I'm trying to find something similar in Christchurch to keep me sane.

As far as my music collection goes...Inappropriate covers. Country. Trad. Unusual or quirky mixes of style and material (indian music on bagpipes for example Abdoul's rocks!). Mash ups, especially of songs you really wouldn't think would work but do.

My Favourite song lyrics of all time are these lines from El Tango de Roxanne from the Moulin Rouge Soundtrack:

    Roxanne
    Why does my heart cry?
    Roxanne
    Feelings I can't fight
    You're free to leave me
    But just don't deceive me
    And please believe me
When I say, I love you

It resounds with me and my view of relationships. I value honesty over most other things.
  • Movies

I love The Princess bride which is odd, because as a rule I don't like romantic movies.
    I really don't like horros
, although I do enjoy thrillers. I like comedies mostly. I'm really looking forward to seeing Black Sheep but I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD now.
  • Television

Black Books. Blakes 7. Red Dwarf. Buffy. Firefly.

Silly Sci Fi and british comedies. Also, old cartoons and things from childhood...like Fraggle Rock and Thunderbirds, Hong Kong Foey and Captain Cave Man.
  • Books

Anything and everything I've ever read by Michael Ende.

Terry Pratchett, Christopher Fowler and Umberto Eco are some of my favourites. I also enjoy Marianne Keyes, she has a similar sense of humour to mine.
  • Heroes

Blurbs

About me:

I'm currently at Canterbury University studying towards my BA in Gender Studies. I'm sort of considering going on to do a Masters degree, but that depends on a lot of things that can't be dealt with right now.

I'm known as "pinky" in certain circles because my name is too long and my hair is bright pink.

I'm too old to be a student, and certainly too old to have fluro pink hair, but I do it anyway. And who gets to decide these things anyway?

Who I'd like to meet:

There really any people I would do anything to meet.

I would love to go drinking with Dylan Moran though, I can see myself literally dying laughing in that situation. Exceot, he's probably boring as hell in real life. So instead, I'd like to go out drinking with his character Bernard Black, from Black books

I'd love to have my family all together in one place for a day. Although I'd have to say, without the fighting.

There are people I miss. People who are gone, people who are away, people who I never got to meet. It would be nice to get to meet them too.
