    Mesmo sem nunca ter pensado em ser cantora Catarina sempre esteve atenta a tudo que acontecia no mundo da música. Se perdia nos sebos do Recife pesquisando sons e criando um acervo que lhe ajudaria na carreira de Deejay. Enquanto os discos rodavam nas pick ups e a festa ficava animada, Catarina disparava comentáriios sarcásticos e cantava ao microfone em cima das bases que disparava, para delírio dos presentes. Numa dessas noites, China, Chiquinho e Homero Basílio (Sungatrio) estavam presentes e perceberam que Catarina poderia sair detrás dos toca-discos e liderar uma banda. Porque não? Marcaram horário no estúdio e começaram a compor algumas canções. Para surpresa de todos, Catarina se mostrou completamente a vontade com o ambiente , e logo estava dando opiniões e apurando seu som com os rapazes. Os produtores do Coquetel Molotov souberam da novidade e resolveram convidar Catarina para tocar no festival, abrindo a noite que teria Malu Magalhães como atração principal. Esse era apenas o segundo Show que tinha feito em sua vida, mas Catarina tirou de letra sua pouca esperiência e fez uma apresentação fabulosa, que lhe deu o título de revelação do festival. No palco, Catarina Dee Jah é uma espécie de Joelma Punk.Ela dança, debocha , solta frases de efeito e tem uma sinceridade que chega a machucar os desavisados. Mas também sabe emocionar os corações e olhos atentos com suas canções e expressões. Depois dessa apresentação os convites para show foram aparecendo, e neste curto período foi convocada para se apresentar na edição do RecBeat no carnaval 2009 , em Recife e São Paulo, junto com a banda Colômbiana Bomba Estéreo. Nesse meio tempo, ela lançou um EP, produzido pelo Sugatrio, seloJoinha records, e tratou de distribuir nos shows da primeira turnê em São Paulo. Os shows foram impecáveis e geraram convites de uma nova tour por vários estados e gravação depromos pela MTV e uma participação no Sessions MTV e outros programas. Gravou uma música inédita com a sua banda no excelente estúdio da Trama. Também fez apresentações na festa Criolina e no projeto "Cedo e em Pé" no Stúdio SP, levando um ótimo público em plena terça-feira chuvosa. Para uma Deejay que nunca pensou em ser cantora, Catarina já rodou mais do que os seus discos, e agora caminha para um mundo além dos sulcos dos seus vinis. Even not ever thinking of being a professional singer, Catarina was always aware of everything that was happening in the world of music. She used to lose herself among the 'sebos' (used-and-rare record shops) of Recife searching for unique sounds, assembling a personal collection of albums which would help her in her DJ career later on. While her wheels got spinning on her pick-ups and party really got started, Catarina volleyed sarcastic commentaries and also sang upon the bases she released, for the joy of the crowd. In one of these nights, China, Chiquinho and Homero Basílio (Sungatrio) were present and noticed that Catarina could get off from behind of her turntables and lead a band. Why not? The met at a studio for some recording sessions. For everybody's surprise, she showed herself completely at ease in that ambient, and soon she was working and accurating her own sound with the boys. When Coquetel Molotov producers knew about it, they invited her to play in the festival, opening the night which would have Mallu Magalhães as a red line. That was only her second presentation in life, but Catarina got rid of her lack of experience in change of a fabulous performance, that gave her the status of festival's revelation. On stage, Catarina Dee Jah dances, gibes with her acid sincereness and speaks effect phrases that may shock the most ingenuous. But she also knows how to fill up with emotion hearts and attentive eyes with her songs and expressions. After this presentation, more invitations were showing up, and in this brief period of time, she was convocated to perform at the 2009's RecBeat Festival edition, in Recife and São Paulo, along with the colombians from Bomba Estéreo. Meanwhile, she released a four-track EP, produced by Sungatrio (Joinha Records), which she distributed during her first tour to São Paulo. Those performances were amazing and she received more and more invitations for a brand new tour, reaching other Brazilian states, plus publicity/promotional videos for the national MTV ('Sessions MTV' and 'Na Estrada' programs) as well as a recording session at the excellent Trama studios, where she recorded an unreleased song with her band there. She also performed at 'Criolina' party and the 'Cedo e Sentado' project at Studio SP (one of the most active and important musical stages for the underground in São Paulo), bringing a great audience to this house on a rainy Tuesday. For a DJ who never thought of being a singer, Catarina has already spinned more than her own disc collection, and now she's walking to a new world far beyond the grooves of her records. ag.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
