Bio:

Guto Lucena initiated his musics studies in 1986. In 1995 he was admitted into the Faculty of Music at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), concluding the music course in 2000. He plays soprano, alto, tenor, baritone saxes and alto flute. His principal area of performance being jazz, however, he has also worked in African, Brazilian, Portuguese, pop and diverse jazz fusions. He participated in different jazz festivals and other concerts in Portugal, Brazil, Spain, France, Angola e Cape Verde. During his professional career he has played with Ben Charest, José Mário Branco, Melissa Walker, Philip Hamilton, Dulce Pontes, Carlos do Carmo, Fernando Tordo, Kristin Korb, Rui Veloso, Mafalda Veiga, Chris Wells, Paulo de Carvalho, amongst others, having also participated in several televison programs in the last five years. At the moment he teaches saxophone at the JB Jazz in Lisbon and integrates several groups such as Ficções, Tora Tora, Politonia.
