Rafael Lápide começou sua carreira em 1999, como um dos frutos da boa safra de MCs saída da festa Zoeira, que acontecia semanalmente na Lapa. O hip hop foi decisivo para forjar sua característica freestyler em seus flows desconsertantes, além de ter possibilitado um maior contato com a cultura africana através da busca por outras vertentes da música preta mundial. Nos últimos anos tem se dedicado como singjay e deejay ao Reggae e ao Dancehall, gêneros nascidos na Jamaica, tornando-se MC residente da Digital Dubs, sound system número 1 no Rio de Janeiro dos gêneros. Figura requisitada nos principais eventos do mundo do Reggae, já participou junto ao coletivo Interferência Sistema de Som com o Faya Riddims, grupo do coletivo, além de apresentações com DJs renomados e músicos tarimbados no Planeta Reggae, Quintessential Grooves, Binghi, Urcasonica, com as bandas Mundo Ácido, entre outras. Passou por várias casas e palcos célebres no Rio de Janeiro, como Circo Voador, Clandestino, casas do Grupo Matriz, dentre outros. Capaz de transitar livremente e com extrema desenvoltura do Afrobeat ao Hip Hop, passando pelo Reggae e o Dancehall e, ainda, submergindo nas influências musicais dos países lusófonos da África – com os quais estabelece conexão a partir da parceria firmada com Sentinela, de Cabo Verde –, Lápide quer ver e ouvir as coisas ficarem pretas: nas Américas, nas Antilhas, na África, em todo lugar. Rafael Lápide began his career in 1999 as one of the most promissing MCs at Zoeira, party which took place weekly in Lapa. Hip hop has been fundamental in forging his freestyling and flows characteristics. In recent years dedicated his musical efforts as singjay and deejay into Reggae and Dancehall, styles born in Jamaica, and became a resident MC in Digital Dubs, sound system number one in Rio de Janeiro. This moviment towards Reggae sparked his ideas into African culture through the search for other stryles of black music worldwide. Required to sing in the main Reggae events, has participated with Interferência Sound System with Faya Riddims, group of the the collective, also performed with renowned DJs and well known musicians on Planet Reggae, Quintessential Grooves, Binghi, Urcasonica with Mundo Ácido (band), among others. He performed in several clubs and famous stages in Rio de Janeiro, such as Circo Voador, Clandestino, Grupo Matriz clubs and parties, among others. Able to move freely and experienced from Afrobeat to Hip Hop, passing by Reggae and Dancehall, and yet, submerging into musical influences of the Lusophone countries of Africa - with which he connects through a partnership signed with Sentinela, from Cape Verde - , Lápide wants to see the world from the worldwide black music's perspective: from America, from the Caribbean, from Africa, from everywhere.
