Indie experimental rock from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Originally from West Palm Beach, Florida, songwriter Eric Guenette has independently released seven cds (100 original songs) since 1997 under the artist name Sleeping Dogs Lie. All of the music is available on CdBaby, iTunes and other download sites and 100% of the proceeds go to charity. .. .. The seventh cd from Sleeping Dogs Lie, "La Luz" is an ambient electronic cd inspired by New Mexico and the Big Sky country. The tracks on La Luz flow seamlessly to create a uniquely unobtrusive background soundtrack to daily life... If you like Brian Eno, this cd may enjoy this cd. .. .. As of February 2012, Sleeping Dogs Lie is currently at $20 for the next charity donation. The last $100 donation was to Life Quest, an organization in Colorado dedicated to treating American troops returning from active duty with PTSD and other disorders by active outdoor physical and mental therapies. The previous $100 donation was on June 27, 2010, the Brett Cason Trust (Wachovia 27-6138689). Brett Cason is the 5-year-old son of long-time friend Maria Cason from Cape Coral, Florida, who passed away from cervical cancer at the age of 35. Before that, a $100 donation was made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure dedicated to relative Sandy Southwick who passed away from complications from breast cancer after a brave nine-year battle. Sandy was the inspiration for donating 100% of future Sleeping Dogs Lie cd and download proceeds to charity. Donations are processed once the proceeds reach the $100 mark. Again, 100% of all of your cd / downloads go to charity. .. .. These recording started 1996 in a small apartment in West Palm Beach, Florida with a Tascam 4-track, Alesis drum machine (credited as "Dr. Uma Chine" on several cds) and a $10 Realistic microphone. After spending a year of recording over 100 songs, the artist name Sleeping Dogs Lie was adopted and soon after, the "Joy" was released in 1997. Music critic Jake Cline of CITY LINK magazine declared that "David Geffen and MTV would be wise to pursue the Joy cd." The second 12-song cd "Slightly confusing to a stranger" (2000), was released which was more lo-fi and experimental than Joy. Splendidzine declared the song "Buddy" to be "song of the year." (even though they hated the rest of the cd!) 2002 saw the release of a more stripped-down, acoustic cd called "Nude." The song "Burl Ives Died" from Nude is the Sleeping Dogs Lie top-seller on iTunes. "Head first down the stairs" was a 22-song cd released in 2006 with an energetic indie rock vibe that is the best-selling Sleeping Dogs Lie cd. The "Swirl" cd (2007) was released with 22-songs, twelve of which were some of the best songs from the original hundred 4-track songs which were remastered as well as an additional 10 new songs. The sixth cd "Trieste" (2009) was a concept cd written on and recorded with only found objects and homemade instruments such as scrap wood, picture wire, a shower curtain and rod, sea shells, 5-gallon buckets, branches, nuts and bolts, Corona bottles, shelf brackets and glue. No part of any real musical instrument was used in this recording.The cd was reviewed lauded by the College Music Journal late in 2009. The latest release was again another experimental cd called "La Luz" (2010) which is an all-electronic ambient cd with no beats or rhythms inspired my the expansive landscapes of New Mexico. The eighth Sleeping Dogs Lie cd is current in the works and is tentatively due to be release by the end of 2012.
