Sugar Rush are a new and exciting band exploding out of Wales in the UK and following hot in the footsteps of fellow compatriots The LostProphets and Stereophonics.

Ignited by the combined talents of lead vocalist Katherine Davies and guitarist Rory Meredith, and fuelled with an array of spectacular songs, Sugar Rush are blasting their way out of the economically deprived Welsh valleys onto the world stage.

Katherine, previously signed to Atlantic Records in the States, and Rory, formerly a member of the band Ether signed to Parlophone in the UK, formed Sugar Rush in 2004 to combine their talents and take complete control of the promotion and distribution of their music!

Katherine and Rory's recent collaboration has provided the, much needed, musical medicine to treat nearly ten years of corporate industry abuse. Unfazed and resilient, their combined past provides an insight into how the machinery of the business can suppress the emergence of true and original talent. Katherine, during her time at Atlantic Records, recorded two albums, the first with acclaimed producer Steve Lipson (of Annie Lennox fame) neither of which ever saw the light of day. Rory, as frontman/guitarist with UK band Ether, recorded two albums for Parlophone/EMI releasing "Strange " in 1998 only to leave the label with a fully mixed second album months prior to its scheduled release.

Neither deterred nor jaded, both brushed aside their collective disappointments and proceeded to write and record the music that would prove themselves more than worthy of reaching a wider audience. Ensconced in Katherine's state of the art studio for nearly two years Sugar Rush was born out of sweat, blood, tears and dusk till dawn writing sessions, slaving over every minute detail from production nuance to syllable structure subtly.

Having honed their writing and production skills, in what they refer to as their "nursery" years in the business, Katherine and Rory have graduated in some style to deliver an album that truly represents their philosophy of

"Learn from the Best. Improve on the Best. Be the Best!"

Katherine, in her formative years penned tracks with industry giants such as Carole King, Diane Warren and Billy Steinberg. Rory, since the age of 17, has worked alongside a who's who of the most renowned UK producers including: Trevor Horn, John Leckie, Al Stone, John Cornfield and Hugh Jones.



In 2003 they were re-signed to Warner Chappell Music by UK publisher of the year Mike Sault, renowned for signing the likes of Dido and Craig David, only for him to leave for a position at Mercury Records a year later, with the project at a crucial developmental stage. After yet another disappointment, a CD miraculously found it's way to Tony Ferguson at Interscope Records in the States. Tony, who signed UK rock act Bush and No Doubt, immediately recognized the opportunity to introduce Sugar Rush to the LA scene and flew the pair to the States for two months to write, record and meet influential movers and shakers.



STANDOUT album tracks include: the Anti-Authoritarian chant of "Do What The F**k I Like!"; the nonchalant, lustful swagger of "Animal Instinct"; the informed, everyday reflection of "Beautiful But Tragic". Juxtaposed and complimented by the ethereal drama of "Games" and the confessional tenderness of "Gifted From Angels".

Name checking such influential bands as Nirvana, Blondie, Nine Inch Nails, U2 and Green Day certainly gives a musical point of reference but no indication of the uniqueness and contradiction that is Sugar Rush....innocent yet frighteningly knowing....heartfelt yet oozing attitude....aggressive yet wonderfully vulnerable....organic yet occasionally industrial....and of course Beautiful yet Tragic!
