My life is consumed at the moment with singing in a harmonious foolk soul duo - under the name of Susie Ro & Ayla - that's where all my new music can be found, singing in harmony with the much talented Ayla.... click on my top friend Susie Ro & Ayla (www.myspace.com/susieroandayla).... we have just released our first album 'She & I'..... Music - this beautiful and unexplainable force is such a huge part of me, i often feel i live to express, to absorb, to inspire. Harmony fizzles in me, ready to bubble out to join with other voices. Apart from my singer/songwriter guitaryness, i lead 4-part natural voice workshops; african, gospel, songs of peace and freedom - music to inspire people to sing together, no sheet music, no pressure, just pure beauty expressed through the human voice. I have just found a crazy piece of delicious technology - line 6 dl4 loop sampler, my beloved green box which im experimenting with - 17 part harmonies bouncing round my little room; silken layers of musical smoke... im just at the beginning of expanding out into musical dimensions that may just blow my little sox off - wwhoooop!! Every note i hear, every harmoney, every beat, every sound, instrument, whisper, musical ray of influence, inspires me to continue to breath music, live for jamming, bliss out when two notes mingle into perfection and penetrate my dancing soul. -

My incredible father: one of the most talented and versitile musicians i have ever been so blessed to be close to; all my life i have been surrounded and embraced by everything from Djembes to Sitar, soothing Bamboo flute to funky bass guitar, mandolin to folk fiddle and above all the beauty of the human voice. Ayla Schafer (my goddess of inspiration), New Zealand’s top beats (the real roots music! check it! ...): Katchafire, Kora, The Black Seeds, Fat Freddie’s Drop, Shapeshifter... Ben Harper, Eva Cassidy, Cara Dillon, Incubus (you may not pick up on the subtle similarities!), Bob Marley, Music of the World (african rhythms and harmonies, asian melodies, latin energy and guitaring, native S. American soft emotion and spirit...etc - i.e. Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Rumilljta, Baka Beyond, Deep Forest), Jack Johnson, Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Paul Simon, India Arie, Bob Dylan, Counting Crows... Drum and Bass, Dub. Apart from song-writing and performing, i lead singing workshop and choirs, inspired by Gospel, African Freedom songs, spiritual four part harmonies, and uplifting peace songs written by Nick Prater (my pa). India, New Zealand, Cambodia, Festivals. -
